Current State Of African Agriculture?

There are billions of dollars of untapped value in the African Agriculture ecosystem. Small Scale Farmers, which account for 33 million farms in Africa [97%] face a 20-50% markup of input. These same farmers also lose 40% of the gross value in the agricultural chain to traders, truckers and processors.

Digging deeper into the problem, we notice as much as 80% of these farmers' warehousing needs aren't met whilst up to 37% of what they are even able to harvest is lost between production and consumption. Considering these farmers have access to 60% of the world's uncultivated arable land, something needs to be done.

How Will We Help?

i-FARM's premise is simple: African Farmers are smart. If they had access to capital at competitive rates, inputs at reasonable prices and modern agricultural machinery, they would drive self-correction in the industry. So, we provide access.

Why Now?

With depreciating African currencies and a ballooning negative agricultural trade balance, we must grow what we eat and eat what we grow. The recent African Continental Free Trade Agreement [AfCFTA] which eliminates 90% of tariffs from signature countries paired with a plump and effervescent African youth force presents the continent with a real opportunity to grow exports and cull imports.

Our i-FARM team, with professional experience which spans multiple continents, educational pedigree from Ivy-League institutions and occupational histories littered with Fortune 500 companies, is perfectly-positioned to drive this trade deficit correction. So again, why now? Right Team, Real Problem and Hospitable Macroeconomic Conditions.
